Nag-enjoy to sawa: Ex- E. Samar mayor Codoy pleads guilty for failure to reimburse travel expenses
Former Llorente, Eastern Samar mayor Tito Balois Codoy Jr. has pleaded guilty for failure to render accounts concerning reimbursements he received for his unauthorized travels.
Because of this, the Sandiganbayan 1st Division slapped him with a P2,000 fine and ordered him to return to the government P81,954.04.
Codoy entered into a plea bargain agreement and pleaded guilty to a lesser offense after previously being charged with graft which carries heavier penalties.
“Records of this case is replete with evidence to establish the fact that accused received an amount of P81,954.04 representing his reimbursement from the Municipality of Llorente but he was not able to account for the said amount,” the anti-graft court stated.
“It is, thus, incumbent upon him, the law requires that accused Codoy should account for such amount,” the court stressed.
Codoy received the amount for travels he made from Tacloban City to Manila from 2013 to 2014.
However, the travels were found made without the approval of the Aklan governor.
