Moises Padilla mayor-elect thanks Duterte for peaceful elections
Mayor-elect Ella Celestina Garcia-Yulo thanks President Rodrigo Duterte for ensuring the orderly conduct of elections in Moises Padilla town, Negros Occidental.
“We really thank Tatay Digong because of his assurance for the safety of the voters, the people went out to vote,” said Garcia-Yulo.
The newly-elected mayor took her oath of office before outgoing Governor Alfredo Marañon Jr. last Thursday.
On May 8, Duterte visited Moises Padilla after the town was placed under the control of the Commission on Elections election-related violent incidents.
Garcia-Yulo earlier accused her uncle and defeated Mayor Magdaleno Peña of masterminding the killing of her brother Michael Garcia and nephew Mark Garcia.
She defeated Peña by 7,563 votes in the May 13 midterm polls.
