Mike Rama laments death of Tony Cuenco

Mike Rama treats this veteran politiko as a mentor.

The vice mayor paid his respects to Councilor Tony Cuenco, who died of COVID-19 just this week as Cebu City grapples with surging cases.

Rama had only fond memories with Cuenco, saying he’s been a long-time congressman for the city’s south district.

“Besides being a dedicated public servant, he will always be considered by the Rama family as a friend. I look back to those days where our two families stood together against a despotic regime. The ideals of freedom are some that we both cherish,” he said.

“When I was still a young councilor, I had the pleasure of running his campaign for congressman. I learned a great deal from him then,” Rama added, paying tribute to his pal and mentor. “The City Council will miss his wisdom and the sound of his voice in the session hall. I will miss a friend and ally. He was truly an icon.”

What a loss.
