Mayor Osmeña insists PAMOCOR hauling dead legal
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña insisted that the city government’s hauling contract with Pasajero Motors Corporation (PAMOCOR) is legal.
The Cebu politiko and a barangay captain are facing a complaint before the Office of the Ombudsman for supposedly violating the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees and the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act when the city government engaged PAMOCOR for its hauling services.
Kasambagan Barangay Captain Franklyn Ong is owned by PAMOCOR.
Osmeña said the contract underwent public bidding.
He also said there were other instances when PAMOCOR failed to win in biddings.
“Why would I do something that I think is illegal? I’m not crazy. The important thing is that there is a competition and there was no anomaly. It is not a special grant and took advantage of the position,” he said.
