Mayor Osmeña files complaints vs 8 opposition barangay captains
Cebu Mayor Tomas Osmeña filed criminal and administrative complaints against eight opposition barangay captains over their alleged failure to liquidate financial aid disallowed by the Commission on Audit (COA).
Seven of the eight barangay captains are running for re-election.
The Cebu politiko denied the move is a form of “electioneering.”
Former mayor Michael Rama, in 2015, released P800 million to barangays for various projects.
But COA said the release of the P800 million lacked “required authorization” from the Cebu City Council.
