Mayor Osmeña calls opposition councilors ‘obstructionists’
Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña called the opposition Barug Team Rama PDP-Laban politikos “obstructionists” after the party filed charges against the city government in connection to the P18-billion Kawit deal.
Eight opposition councilors earlier asked the court to junk the resolutions approved during the supposed unauthorized session last August 9.
Among the respondents in the case are Osmeña, Councilors David Tumulak, Margarita Osmeña, Sisinio Andales, Eugenio Gabuya Jr., Alvin Arcilla, Mary Ann Delos Santos, Jerry Guardo, Franklyn Ong, and Joy Augustus Young, UHRI, and Geofry Abroguena, developer of the Binaliw landfill.
Osmeña said the opposition’s case will scare investors away.
“They just want to scare the investor. Cheap trick. It’s not working because the Gokongwei lawyers have already reviewed the case,” he said.
“Team Suyop is suffering from the delusion that the minority has become the majority! They walked out without following the protocol for adjournment. Then they said there was no quorum but no one asked for a roll call to officially declare that there is in quorum,” he added.
