Mayor Osmeña accused of carnapping, robbery
A policeman from Himamaylan City in Negros Occidental has accused Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña of carnapping and robbery, Cebu Daily News reported.
Patrolman Romil Gelogo alleged that Osmeña took his Honda TMX motorcycle and a Tag Heuer wrist watch worth P150, 000 which was kept inside his motorcycle toolbox.
Osmeña confronted Gelogo outside the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) because the policemen motorcycle lacked side mirrors and registration sticker.
“By law, the mayor is granted police authority and is in fact in command of the police. Why did this policeman refuse to comply when asked for his license, registration, and police ID, and moreover why did he retreat back into the camp after I asked him if he was evading and not complying?,” the politiko said in a post on Facebook.
Osmeña said he visited the CCPO to see the two Sanguniang Kabataan (SK) councilors from Barangay Cogon Ramos who were arrested by the police for alleged vote buying.
The mayor was not allowed entry into the CCPO headquarters.
