Mayor Dadivas defers stall rental increases
Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas heeded the request of the Grocery and Miscellaneous Association Inc. (GROMISC) not to increase stall rentals at the Teodoro Arcenas Trade Center (TATC).
This is the second time that Dadivas froze rent increases despite the passage of an ordinance in March 2020 amending the rentals at the public market. Covid-19 prompted the local chief executive to postpone the enforcement of the ordinance.
In 2021, GROMISC again appealed for the moratorium as they have yet to recover from the brunt of the pandemic. (https://bit.ly/3dDDd8V)
In response, Dadivas asked the Councilor Paul Baticados, chair of the Committee on Economic Enterprise; and Councilor Gary Potato, chair of the Committee on Ways and Means to pass an ordinance that will defer the stall rental increases.
Stalls for agricultural products, dry goods and groceries in the posterior area of the TATC are rented at P8 per square meter. Stalls in the interior areas, on one hand, are rented at P6/sq m.
The meat, poultry and fish section stalls are leased at P5/sq m.
