The Cadiz City government expects to earn more than a billion pesos from the recently concluded 49th Dinagsa Festival honoring Senior Santo Niño de Cadiz.

According to Mayor Salvador Escalante Jr., the city government spent nearly P20 million on more than 60 activities for this year’s two-week celebration.

Liquor sales alone are estimated to be worth P70 million, said Escalante. (https://bit.ly/3Y1xzTI)

Revenues from lodging and food, among other things, are not yet included.

The city mayor also said the celebration was peaceful.

The Philippine National Police estimated that the crowd for the highlights day on January 29 was around 500,000, as of 1 p.m.

The highlight of the celebration was the street dance competition of the eight tribes, namely: Tribu Majeca, Tribu Sicablun Quatro, Tribu Manara, Tribu Yab-Yab Doongol, Tribu Tigbanda, Tribu Hitalon, Tribu Tinambitres, and Tribu Bucadcad.

During the “Lamhitanay sa Dalan,” revelers also had fun smearing water-based paint on each other.
