Mayor Calvo mulls establishing hospital for remote brgys
Mayor Francisco Calvo has commissioned the construction of a community hospital in Barangay Caratagan to bring health care closer to remote barangays in Calinog, Iloilo.
The municipal government allocated P12 million, with an additional P5 million from the province, to build the project.
The nearest hospital from the barangay is the Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Memorial District Hospital, a 30-kilometer ride. (https://bit.ly/3tNkCOG)
Once completed, more than five other barangays can avail the services offered by the community hospital, said Calvo.
The mayor said he will hire two doctors, nurses, and a midwife once construction is finished. He also plans to procure an X-ray machine, and an ambulance.
