Mayor, brother surrender guns shortly before elections

Reelectionist President Roxas (Capiz) Mayor Receliste Escolin and his brother surrendered to police two firearms shortly before the May 13 elections.

Escolin turned over a cal-.45 pistol with an expired license while his brother, Barangay Badiangon chairman Renboy Escolin, turned over a homemade shotgun.

President Roxas police chief Police Capt. Armando Clavaton said the mayor turned over the firearms for safekeeping while he is processing his licenses.

He said the mayor surrendered the firearms because of the election gun ban and campaign against loose firearms.

The firearms were turned over to the custody of Firearms Explosives Security Agencies and Guard Supervision.

Before this, Mayor Escolin turned over to police last April 29 his three firearms, including a baby Armalite and two cal-.45 pistols.
