Mayor Allan Rellon places Tagum City under state of calamity due to floods
The Tagum City Council decided to announce a state of calamity after flash floods submerged several villages around town.
Mayor Allan Rellon announced on his Facebook page that Tagum City is officially under state of calamity, after nine of its 23 barangays suffered damages due to heavy rains and flooding across the province of Davao del Norte.
In a Jan. 24 resolution, the city council invoked such powers after finding out that over 2,000 families have been displaced by the floods, while damages are estimated around P1 billion for infrastructure and P74 million among crops.
Relief and evacuation protocols are already in place, the politiko added.
