0

Congress’ plate is full on their last week of sessions.

Majority Leader and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez made it a personal vow to pass three crucial bills to aid the country’s fight against COVID-19 and save more people from going hungry and jobless. It’s part of his deliverables in the coming days, and he hopes to clear it from Congress.

“It is of utmost urgency that House Bills 6707, 6709, and 6623 be enacted into laws in the soonest possible time. These will rescue our people from further suffering in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kaya pukpukan talaga kami sa virtual deliberations para mapadali ‘to,” the politiko said, breaking down the importance of each bill.

HB 6709 will provide a strategy to reduce unemployment due to COVID-19, while the other bill is dubbed the “New Normal for the Workplace and Public Spaces Act of 2020.” The next bill, and perhaps the most crucial of the three, outlines Baseline PCR Testing as the protocol for COVID-19 that will be “required to be made available, affordable, and accessible to all Filipinos.”

Is this finally the mechanism for mass testing?

These will rescue our people from further suffering in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. Kaya pukpukan talaga kami sa virtual deliberations para mapadali ‘to. For your information, ang HB6709 ay ang COVID-19 Unemployment Reduction Economic Stimulus Act (otherwise known as the CURES Act); ang HB6623 ay ang New Normal for the Workplace and Public Spaces Act of 2020; at ang HB 6707 naman ay ang batas na magtatalaga ng Baseline PCR Testing as the protocol for COVID-19 and, as such, it is required to be made available, affordable, and accessible to all Filipinos. We have to act decisively! Time is of the essence.
