Loren Legarda: pandemic a fresh chance for waste reduction
With people staying at home and fewer heading out, it’s time to face one big issue: garbage disposal.
Former senator now Antique Representative Loren Legarda thinks now is the best time to confront this menace as people generate more waste from home – especially the piling masks, tissues, and other antivirus interventions.
“Due to the health impact and the disruptions that the pandemic has brought to human activities, the ongoing crisis has prompted us to rethink our conventional practices and rebuild a sustainable, resilient and inclusive society,” the politiko said.
“As principal author of the RA 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act, I believe that minimizing our waste through segregation, composting, reusing, recycling, and promoting sustainable consumption is the key to an effective post-pandemic recovery,” she added.
