Lizares reminds Talisaynons: Contact sports still not allowed

All forms of contact sports and indoor sports are still prohibited in Talisay City, Negros Occidental.

Mayor Neil Lizares said that public sports activities requiring physical contact, such as basketball and volleyball, are still not allowed.

Citing the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases’ Omnibus Guidelines on the Implementation of Community Quarantine in the Philippines, the mayor explained that only outdoor non-contact sports and other forms of exercise like walking, jogging, running, biking, golf, swimming, tennis, badminton, equestrian, range shooting, diving and skateboarding are allowed. There is no truth to reports circulating on social media that basketball is already allowed to be played within the barangay level, according to Lizares.

“Your cooperation, especially of our youth, is highly needed to finally bring down to zero the Covid-19 cases in Talisay,” he added.
