Leonardia: Vendors’ holiday plea up to DILG
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia is leaving it to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) to decide if it will allow street vendors to sell in the downtown area during the holidays.
The vendors will be allowed to sell at the Bacolod Public Plaza and along the Old Bacolod City Hall once the DILG has given the green light, said Bacolod.
Three local vendors’ associations earlier appealed to the mayor to allow them to sell in the downtown area throughout December. (https://bit.ly/2DrA4aE)
It is their only chance to earn enough for the holiday season, they said, adding that their sales and income have been adversely affected after their relocation.
Leonardia said he will follow-up DILG’s opinion on the matter.
