Leonardia to receive SGLG award next week
Bacolod Mayor Evelio Leonardia will receive for the city the 2019 Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) Award from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) during the awarding rites at The Manila Hotel on November 5.
Bacolod City is one of the 57 out of 145 cities in the country that will receive the SGLG award this year.
“The SGLG is the barometer of a local government unit’s (LGU) performance. For us, this is a validation of all the other awards we earned,” Leonardia said.
The city is one of the only five cities in Western Visayas to get the award. The others are Passi in Iloilo and San Carlos, Silay, and Victorias in Negros Occidental.
The DILG said a total of 17 provinces, 57 cities, and 306 municipalities out of 1,706 LGUs will be conferred of the SGLG award.
The SGLG criteria include seven governance core areas: Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Peace and Order; Business Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Protection; and Tourism Culture and the Arts.
