Leonardia eyes satellite markets to cater to displaced vendors
The city government of Bacolod plans to put up two new public markets to provide displaced vendors a decent place to sell their goods.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia said the proposed satellite markets will provide spaces to more vendors who could not be accommodated by the existing public markets.
“Bacolod is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. We are expanding and soon we will have other growth areas,” the politiko added. (https://www.panaynews.net/bacolod-eyes-satellite-markets/)
According to him, the President’s directive to clear all road obstructions will pave the way for Bacolod to open “other growth areas” in the city.
There are available properties in Barangays Alijis and Mansilingan that can become potential markets aimed to accommodate displaced vendors.
“We are doing our best to be able to find new markets for the vendors,” Leonardia said.
