Lapu VM Sitoy: Too early to lift outdoor mask rule
Lapu-Lapu City Vice Mayor Celsi Sitoy opposed the lifting of outdoor face mask mandate.
It is not yet time to drop the mandatory use of face masks in public places, according to Sitoy.
“It’s too early to stop the use of face masks,” the vice mayor also said. (https://bit.ly/3aLvHuY)
The doctor added that Covid-19 pandemic is not yet over as more variants have recently been detected in the country.
Sitoy made the statement four days after Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia issued Executive Order No. (EO) 16 that makes the wearing of face masks in open and well-ventilated spaces in the province optional.
The EO, however, still mandates the mandatory wearing of masks in closed and air-conditioned places.
Garcia’s latest directive does not cover the highly urbanized cities of Lapu-Lapu, Mandaue and Cebu.
