Lacson wants another Negrense to lead sugar agency

Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson hopes another Negrense will be appointed as Sugar Regulatory Administration (SRA) head.

Earlier, Malacañang confirmed that David Alba, who is from La Carlota City,resigned due to worsening health condition.

“The province being the biggest producer of sugar, of course I’m partial to having another Negrense appointed as SRA administrator,” Lacson said during the opening ceremonies of Magayon Hinuptanan Festival in Moises Padilla. (

“We are producing about 60 percent of the sugar in the country, I hope a Negrense will be appointed to the post,” he added.

When asked if he has anyone in mind, the governor said, “I have nobody in mind, we leave it the discretion of the appointing authority.”

Lacson also wished Alba well, hoping that whatever health issues he is dealing with will be overcome.
