Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson prefers that the province remains under Alert Level 2 by March.

“I always like to remain cautious, especially during a campaign period,” said Lacson.

The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases is expected to issue the new Covid-19 alert levels in the different provinces before the end of February. (

While Covid-19 cases in Negros Occidental are going down, Lacson said it can go up anytime “if we don’t take care of ourselves.”

As of February 24, the Provincial Incident Management Team said Negros Occidental reported a total of 522 active infections.
