Lacson to Negrenses: Unite vs insurgency


Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson called on Negrenses to assist the government in its counter-insurgency efforts.

“My call is for unity among us… each and every Negrense has a role to play,” Lacson said during he Cinco de Noviembre rites at the Capitol Lagoon Park in Bacolod City yesterday.

Forty-four individuals, suspected of being communists, were arrested in Bacolod and Escalante cities late last week. (

Most of them were members of progressive groups, who have denied being members of the Communist Party of the Philippines-the New People’s Army, and claimed that evidence against them were planted.

Last Monday, charges were filed against the 44, and 15 others who are still at large and have yet to be named, for illegal possession of firearms and explosives, before the Bacolod City Prosecution Office.
