Lacson shuts NegOcc cemeteries from Oct. 30 to Nov. 2
Governor Eugenio Lacson of Negros Occidental canceled this year’s observance of the traditional “Undas.”
Lacson ordered the temporary closure of all public cemeteries, private memorial parks and columbaries in the province to prevent public gathering during All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days.
He announced this move through Executive Order No. (EO) 45 issued Thursday.(https://bit.ly/3iGKpCH)
The rising number of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases, according to the governor, is a compelling reason to regulate the operation of these places.
The temporary closure will start at 12:01 a.m. of October 30 until 11:59 p.m. of November 2.
Lacson said health officials have anticipated the large crowds in cemeteries and memorial parks who will visit their departed loved ones during the Undas season, a gathering that could lead to a spike in Covid-19 cases.
