Labella to lift liquor ban on Friday

Mayor Edgardo Labella is set to issue an executive order lifting the liquor ban in public places in Cebu City effective May 7.

Labella, however, said that “liquor marshals,” mostly coming from the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), will be deployed to monitor the compliance of establishments to health protocols.

In areas under modified general community quarantine, only two servings of liquor in restaurants and bars are allowed. (

The city mayor warned shutting down establishments that will violate protocols.

He decided to lift the liquor ban because of the appeal of the business sector to revive the economy, explained Labella.

According to him, the EOC and city health officials also gave their “favorable recommendation” to the lifting.
