Kontra dengue: Cebu task force steps up prevention, control efforts
The Cebu Provincial Health Office has stepped up its efforts to prevent the spread of dengue, considered a year-round threat.
According to the provincial health office, its Task Force ‘Kontra Lamok’ is aiming to reduce infection to a level where it will no longer pose risks.
Dr. Niño Ismael Pastor, head of the task force, said member agencies were given specific tasks.
Pastor stressed the need to “search and destroy” breeding grounds of dengue-carrying mosquitos.
Agencies covered by the task force include the Department of Education, Department of Interior and Local Government, Bureau of Fire Protection, and municipal health officers, League of Municipal Mayors, and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
The task force wants local government units and public schools to place posters in strategic places.
For its part, the League of Municipal Mayors (LMP) also expressed support in coordinating cleanliness campaigns in their localities.
