Joe Espinosa takes oath as Iloilo mayor
It was a bittersweet moment for the politiko.
Vice Mayor Jose “Joe” Espinosa III has officially taken over as mayor of Iloilo City on Oct. 30.
He took his oath of office that Monday as he replaces his ally Jed Patrick Mabilog, who has been ordered dismissed by the Office of the Ombudsman for supposedly amassing unexplained wealth.
Espinosa has been serving as acting mayor for over a month now after Mabilog took a sick leave to seek treatment abroad.
Mabilog has been in hot water after President Rodrigo Duterte tagged him as narco-politiko, and even called Iloilo as a shabu hub.
Given that Mabilog and Espinosa have been solid running mates, the transition should not be a big problem.
