Jerry Treñas writes to House, Senate in plea to revamp DepEd budget
He cannot sit still knowing that his idea might work to the benefit of millions of students.
Mayor Jerry Treñas is definitely an action man, which he proved through his recent decision to write leaders of the House and Senate to push for his suggestion to use the school buildings budget of the Department of Education for online learning gadgets and facilities to help students and teachers cope.
He coursed his pitch to fellow Ilonggo Senator Frank Drilon, Senate President Tito Sotto, and Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano.
“I wrote a letter to the 18th Congress of the Philippines to propose that the Senate consider having funds for the construction and/or improvement of educational infrastructures be realigned to the procurement of technological devices and improvement of internet connection at schools that would allow Filipino students and teachers to fulfill the DepEd’s goal of unhindered learning in safer settings,” the politiko said. “We hope that the House finds this proposition agreeable.”
