Jerry Treñas to extend Iloilo City’s bike lanes as more people pedal to work


It’s Iloilo City’s time to shine.

While Metro Manila is scrambling how to make the capital biker-friendly, Iloilo City has long known the formula for this. Limits on public transport has awaken other politikos to what Mayor Jerry Treñas and Iloilo City has known all along: the sustainability of bicycles.

The politiko’s focus now is how to scale up the local bike lanes to allow more people to travel longer distances on two wheels.

“We have been promoting Iloilo City as the Bike Capital of the Philippines considering that it is hailed as the Most Bike-Friendly City. The proposed additional bike lane is 32.86km and this would be a great help to our Ilonggo bike enthusiasts,” Treñas said.
