Jerry Treñas laments passing of former envoy Tony Rufino
Even the rich and powerful are not spared by this COVID-19 surge.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas condoled with the family and friends of the late Antonio “Tony” Rufino, former consul to Portugal, after catching COVID-19 and not receiving immediate medical attention.
Rufino’s son Jinno recounted their family’s tragic ordeal, saying he was waiting for help outside a hospital but expired before he could be confined.
“This virus is a very serious disease and it is painful to lose a loved one when you least expect it. I pray for Tony’s peace and hope that this will not happen to others,” the politiko said.
