Jerry Treñas gives back with P2.7M donation to Mindanao quake victims
He’s returning the generosity which Iloilo City received a decade ago.
Mayor Jerry Treñas is not the one to easily forget good deeds, like how his city received millions of pesos of donations and in-kind help during a tough time.
“We were once tested by typhoon Frank in 2008 but in times of calamities and disasters, we have always been standing altogether,” the politiko said.
With the recent series of earthquakes in Mindanao, Treñas saw a good opening to pay the good deeds forward. He pledged a P2.7 million donation through the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, which will be given to affected local government units in Mindanao.
We were once tested by typhoon Frank in 2008 but in times of calamities and disasters, we have always been standing altogether. I am genuinely grateful for our kind-hearted Ilonggos who already donated and volunteered for the earthquake victims. Together with Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, we from Iloilo City Government gave 2.7 million financial assistance to the local government units in Mindanao. This is our way of sending help and sympathy for the victims of the earthquake in Davao del Sur and North Cotabato. Now, it is our time to help our beloved brothers and sisters in Mindanao.#BangonMindanao
