Jerry Treñas aims to make Iloilo City ‘most liveable’ city
Mayor Jerry Treñas wants Iloilo City to be considered as one of the three most liveable cities in the Philippines.
Treñas said he intends to enhance the city government’s frontline public services and rehabilitate public parks and markets.
“We want to have the best plazas in Western Visayas. We want to have the best markets in Western Visayas. We want to have the best traffic management in Western Visayas. Our goal, we want Iloilo to be one of the three most highly liveable cities in the Philippines,” according to him.
Treñas shared the proposal for the rehabilitation of the Jaro Plaza, which will cost P40 million, has been submitted to the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority for possible funding.
They are still looking for the plan for the Mandurriao Plaza.
The Ilonggo mayor, meanwhile, is eyeing the rehabilitation of the city’s slaughterhouse through public-private partnership (PPP).
“I have already talked to the PPP center. They are coming here within the month to check on the slaughterhouse. As of now there are already four parties interested in the slaughterhouse,” the politiko said.
Treñas also promised that all air-conditioning units at the City Hall are fixed by the end of July.
“How can we call ourselves the premier city when there are two, three, four electric fans in an office? We will look for the necessary funds to repair all air-con units,” he said.
