In remainder of term, Rama to focus on waste, SRP loan payment
Cebu City Mayor Mike Rama will focus the remaining days of his term as mayor on convening a waste management summit in the city and fully paying the loan for the South Road Properties (SRP).
The summit aims to encourage citizens to become more conscious about waste segregation and proper waste disposal, Rama said during a virtual presser Monday.
The April 6 to 8 gathering will be attended by representatives of national government agencies, non-government organizations, solid waste management solution companies, and solid waste generators like hotels and restaurants. (https://bit.ly/3JaY9Ca)
According to Rama, the conveners have already undertaken preliminary focus group discussions that yielded valuable outputs that will be reported and consolidated during the summit.
“For this, we welcome all ideas from our citizens in all sectors, and incorporate these into what will become a comprehensive Waste Management Program,” he added.
Meanwhile, the mayor said that he has already given marching orders to the personnel in charge of expediting the completion of payment for the SRP loan.
The City Council earlier approved a P1.61 billion supplemental budget that included the funds needed to pay off the remaining P1.1 billion balance of the loan.
