Ilonggo solon help finance rehabilitation of city plazas


Senate Minority Leader Franklin Drilon has committed to help finance the redevelopment of the public plazas in Iloilo City’s Molo and Mandurriao districts.

Some P30-million fund for the two plazas were realigned for the consumables needed in the coronavirus (Covid-19) test laboratory currently being constructed in Barangay San Pedro, Molo.

Drilon made the commitment during a virtual meeting Friday last week, according to Mayor Jerry Treñas. (

The city government is prioritizing its testing lab, which is expected to operate before September ends.

Treñas said the beautification of the plazas can wait while the health of the city’s residents could not.

As of September 21, the city reported 1,847 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,073 recovered and 35 died, data from the Department of Health Region 6 showed.
