Iloilo SP wants threat monitoring

POLITIKO - The bible of Philippine Politics.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) asked the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) to conduct active intelligence monitoring following the murder of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.
Thw SP met with IPPO director Colonel Ronaldo Palomo last week to seek an assessment of the peace and order situation in the province.
“All the SP members requested that our police intelligence should be good. What happened in Negros Oriental does not happen in a day, it has been planned for a long time and we can see that they really have a system. We want that not to happen in the province,” said Vice Governor Christine Garin. (https://bit.ly/3zf9Zsx)
The IPPO has begun its threat assessment for all SP members, namely Valentine Marcelo Serag and Jo Ann Germinanda (1st District), June Mondejar and Rolito Calijig (2nd District), Jason Gonzales and Matt Palabrica (3rd District), Rolando Distura and Domingo Oso, Jr. (4th District), and Carol V. Espinosa-Diaz and Binky Tupas (5th District), including ex-officio Provincial Board members, Liga ng mga Barangay president Dorothy Paes; Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president Bianca Requinto; and Philippine Councilors League-Iloilo chapter president Ramon Sullano.
“The director said they already conducted the assessment, and so far our SP members seem to not have any problems,” according to Garin.
She said that while the public is usually focused on local chief executives such as governors and mayors, SP members should not be overlooked.
Palomo, the vice governor added, assured that if the threat assessment revealed that an SP member is under threat, the IPPO will provide police security.
