Iloilo school board gets P150M budget
Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. has approved the allocation of P150 million to the Iloilo Provincial School Board (IPSB).
The budget is higher than the board’s 2019 budget of P100 million.
According to Provincial Administrator Suzette Mamon, the 2020 budget is expected to improve public school buildings and facilities, procure learning materials and equipment, install potable water systems in schools, and purchase sports equipment. (https://bit.ly/38y8kzf)
The goal is to improve the quality of education in Iloilo’s public schools, said Mamon, also the IPSB secretary.
The IPSB has been reorganized. Defensor as governor is the board chairman while his co-chair is Dr. Roel Bermejo, superintendent of schools.
Its members include Vice Gov. Christine Garin, the chairperson of the Sangguniang Panlalwigan’s Committee on Education; Provincial Board member Ma. Angelica Bianca Requinto, president of the provincial federation of the Sangguniang Kabataan; Jean Maire Umadhay, provincial treasurer; Rogelio Esguerra, representing the Iloilo Public School Teachers’ Association; Jose Marie Bedro representing the non-academic personnel of public schools; and Engr. John Arcosa, president of the Federated Parents-Teachers and Community Association.
