Iloilo PNP seizes P750K shabu days before Dinagyang
Police in Iloilo City seized some P750,000 worth of methamphetamine (shabu), with just weeks to go before the famous Dinagyang Festival there.
City police are not discounting the drugs, seized in City Proper on the afternoon of Jan. 8, were to be sold to visitors during the festival.
Arrested were Raymund Baclado, 28, of Mandaue City in Cebu; and Janice Pansoy, 22, of Naga City in Cebu.
The two were arrested after Pansoy sold an undercover police agent a sachet of suspected shabu worth P4,500. The couple later yielded 21 more sachets of suspected shabu.
Philippine National Police Regional Drug Enforcement Unit team leader Senior Inspector Marc Dado said the drugs could be Pansoy’s pre-Dinagyang Festival supply.
Dado said they are now verifying reports that Pansoy, who allegedly worked as a commercial sex worker who turned to selling drugs, had surrendered through Oplan Tokhang in Mandaue City.
He added their investigation showed Pansoy is a human carrier of shabu from Cebu, taking the shabu to San Carlos City in Negros Occidental and then to Bacolod City.
