Iloilo City wins Galing Pook Awards for bike culture

The Iloilo City Government’s I-Bike Program, which promotes bike activism, won this year’s Galing Pook Award, which recognizes the best and most innovative local governance programs that harness citizens’ participation while delivering positive results and impact.

Mayor Jerry Treñas accepted the award from President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday at the Malacañan Palace.

“This proves that good governance can produce good results for the benefit of our constituents. Ilonggos should continue to strive harder to reach greater heights,” said Treñas. (

He also lauded the efforts of city officials and employees.

The I-Bike Program encourages regular biking and walking, as well as road sharing and safe mobility practices.

Locals have adopted these practices, leading to a healthier, more sustainable, and environmentally friendly way of life.
