Iloilo City on lockdown
Iloilo City was placed on enhanced community quarantine starting Friday, March 20, due to the threat from COVID-19.
The lockdown will remain in effect until April 14, as stated by Executive Order 55-2020 signed by Mayor Jerry Treñas.
Also, Treñas signed Ordinance No. 2020-056 imposing a mandatory curfew over the city from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. (https://dailyguardian.com.ph/stay-at-home-iloilo-city-on-lockdown/)
“We have to protect doctors, nurses and other frontline workers so they wouldn’t be compromised and at the same time, we are also protecting the most vulnerable sectors who are at higher risk of being infected,” Treñas said.
He said the quarantine includes mandatory closure of non-essential establishments, regulating entry to and exit from the city, and enforcement of strict social distancing.
Treñas warned establishments that violate the enhanced community quarantine will be shut down.
