Iloilo City may revert to GCQ
Iloilo City may likely return to general community quarantine (GCQ) from modified GCQ after July 15.
Mayor Jerry Treñas floated this possibility yesterday, saying he received information that the national government’s Inter-agency Task Force (IATF) on Emerging Infectious Diseases recommended tightening community quarantine in the city.
Treñas, however, did not disclose the bases of the IATF. (https://bit.ly/394gmAY)
Citing the city’s readiness in handling coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases, the mayor intends to write a letter of appeal to the IATF.
Facilities in the city are already in place for the management of Covid-19, he added, citing QualiMed Hospital’s Molecular Laboratory at Atria Park in Mandurriao district, which started performing tests on July 10.
As of Sunday, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed Iloilo City’s confirmed Covid-19 cases at 80 – 43 were locally stranded individuals and overseas Filipino workers and 37 were local or indigenous cases.
This city, Iloilo province, Capiz, Negros Occidental, and Bacolod City still remain under MGCQ, “moderate risk.”
