Iloilo City has 7th confirmed COVID case

Iloilo City has recorded its seventh confirmed case of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), a 51-year-old woman from La Paz district with a history of travel to Metro Manila.

Mayor Jerry Treñas announced this latest COVID-19 case yesterday. He said he was “saddened.”

The case, Western Visayas’ Patient No. 55, was asymptomatic and currently on home quarantine, said Treñas. (

The city mayor apparently knew and was close to the patient. He said she was a daughter of his City Legal Officer, Atty. Edgar Gil.

The woman was allowed to hitch on a private plane commissioned by the city government to get Covid-19 test kits from Metro Manila last week. When the patient reached the city, she was subjected to a rapid test.

Treñas, however, assured Ilonggos that the patient “followed protocols upon arrival, in strict home quarantine, and was not exposed to other people.”
