Iloilo City grants special pension to 11K senior citizens, PWDs
The Iloilo City government has started distributing P500 social pension to about 11,000 senior citizens and persons with disabilities in the city.
Some 2,800 senior citizens from Arevalo, Mandurriao, City Proper, and Molo districts in Iloilo City have already received their pension from the local government on Septembrt 18 during a distribution activity at Molo Gym.
Meanwhile, distribution of special pension for 2,200 senior citizens from Jaro, La Paz, and Lapuz will happen today, September 19 at the Jaro Gym.
Moreover, some 6,000 PWDs will also receive P500 social pension on Sept. 23 at the Jaro Gym.
The Iloilo City Government through the City Social Welfare and Development Office distributed the social pension to beneficiaries identified by the Office of Senior Citizens Affairs.
The program was initiated by Mayor Jed Patrick E. Mabilog in 2010 which aims to help elderly aged 60 and above to have assistance for their medication and daily needs.
The special pension program has a P5 million budget this year.
