Iloilo City eyes tougher penalties vs vandals

0

Stiffer penalties are in store for those vandalizing public and private properties in public areas in Iloilo City, Mayor Jerry Treñas said.

Treñas bared his plan in the wake of a series of vandalism incidents at the Iloilo River Esplanade last week.

He said he has instructed the City Legal Office (CLO) to study the possible increase on the penalties of those who will be caught (https://dailyguardian.com.ph/war-against-vandalism-city-hall-mulls-stiffer-penalties-against-vandals/).

Also, he said he will install security cameras, particularly at the Iloilo River Esplanade and bike lanes at Benigno Aquino Avenue in Mandurriao district.

Presently, violators of the anti-vandalism ordinance in Iloilo City face a maximum fine of P5,000 and community service.
