Iloilo Capitol landscaping complete before end-2019

Landscaping work on the Iloilo provincial government’s Capitol grounds are on target for completion before end-2019, Governor Arthur Defensor said.

But Defensor’s office called the attention of Roprim Construction, which has fallen behind schedule on Package 2 of the Capitol complex redevelopment.

As of Dec. 20 last year, Roprim Construction’s completion rate was only 10.95 percent, way below its target accomplishment of 38.02 percent.

The Office of the Governor issued last Dec. 21 a notice of termination to Roprim over the slippage of 27.07 percent, which it blamed on lack of manpower.

Roprim’s package covers the front portion of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol up to the Casa Real de Iloilo or Old Capitol.

But Defensor said Roprim met with the Provincial Engineer’s Office to speed up its work.

The governor instructed the contractor and the workers to double time.

On Jan 17, the governor personally inspected the ongoing redevelopment and suggested some modifications.

Package 2 was started last May 8. It cost P69 million.
