Hurt by ‘snub’ at Mandaue rally, Talisay mayor ditches Roxas-Robredo tandem
Can a simple greeting have the power to change political allegiances?
The answer? Yes.
Slighted by Liberal Party presidential candidate Manuel Roxas II’s failure to acknowledge him during a campaign rally in Mandaue City last week, Talisay City Mayor Johnny de los Reyes decided to withdraw his support for Roxas and his running mate, Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo.
Cebu Daily News reported on Sunday that de los Reyes did not like Roxas’ gesture of acknowledging former Rep. Eduardo Gullas, the mayor’s rival in his reelection bid, during the event.
De los Reyes said he will still carry the LP banner even as his camp is now looking at throwing their support to another Palace hopeful.
De los Reyes and his team will decide by next week who between Vice President Jejomar Binay and Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte will clinch their support for the May 9 elections, according to the report.
