House reso seeks Panay-Guimaras-Negros bridge revision
Negros Occidental Rep. Juliet Ferrer (4th district) has filed a resolution requesting the National Economic Development Authority (NEDA) to consider another study for the Panay-Guimaras-Negros bridge to end either in Bago City or Valladolid, aside from Pulupandan.
This was similar to the stand of the provincial government for NEDA to explore the areas of Valladolid and Bago City for the proposed bridge, said Vice Governor Jeffrey Ferrer.
Ferrer also said the resolution has been referred to the Committee on Public Works for hearing. (https://bit.ly/2VMeMyQ)
Last December, the Provincial Development Council of Negros Occidental passed a resolution asking the NEDA to consider areas other than Pulupandan. But NEDA has yet to respond to the request.
Ferrer said they also have a feasibility study, and a position paper requesting NEDA to consider letting the Iloilo-Guimaras-Negros bridge end in Valladolid or Bago.
Instead of paying the right of way for privately-owned properties in Pulupandan, the vice governor said such payment may be used in the construction of a reclamation area in Valladolid.
He added that the area to be covered by the proposed project are government properties.
