House OKs Carlos Hilado college’s name change
A bill seeking to convert Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) in Talisay City, Negros Occidental into a university was approved by the House of Representatives on final reading.
House Bill No. 7081, once signed into law by President Rodrigo Duterte will change the name of CHMSC to Carlos Hilado Memorial State University.
Bacolod City Rep. Greg Gasataya filed the measure at the lower house last year.
Senator Bam Aquino IV’s counterpart bill in the Senate, filed in August 2018, is still pending approval.
CHMS has four campuses in Negros Occidental: Talisay, Alijis, Fortune Town, and Binalbagan.
