House of Reps to probe water shortage on Monday

Negros Occidental Rep. Albee Benitez (3rd district) said the House of Representative will investigate on Monday the water shortage affecting several parts of Metro Manila and nearby areas.

In a post on Twitter Friday, Benitez promised to get to the bottom of this issue.

Some Metro Manila residents have been complaining about not receiving adequate water supply for days.

“Kabi-kabila ang pagkawala ng supply ng tubig sa Metro Manila. Iimbestigahan po natin ito sa Kongreso sa Lunes para matukoy ano nga ba ang sanhi ng problema at para hanapan ito ng agaran at pangmatagalang solusyon,” the Negrense politiko said.

Earlier today, President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System, Manila Water Company, Inc., and Maynilad Water Services, Inc. to release 150 days worth of water from Angat Dam by noontime today, March 15.

This will “supply the affected areas in Metro Manila and deliver, as well as distribute sufficient water to the residents thereof,” Duterte’s spokesperson Salvador Panelo said in a statement.
