Gwendolyn Garcia is rewarding the hard work of about 39,000 barangay workers in Cebu province.

The governor revealed that barangay frontliners who were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and typhoon Odette will receive a P2,000 aid overall.

“In the seventh round of Cebu Provincial Government’s Caravan of Provincial Services for the third quarter of 2022, launched in Madridejos last Saturday July 16, the announcement made by Governor Gwen Garcia reverberated to the excitement of the frontliners who are deemed ‘community heroes’ at the onset of the pandemic,” the politiko said.

“Half of the financial aid is funded by four senators through the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s “Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation” worth 1,000 pesos for each frontliner. They are Senators Imee Marcos, Bong Revilla, Sonny Angara, and Senate President Miguel Zubiri. Governor Garcia matched it with an additional 1,000 pesos from the Cebu Provincial Government to make it 2,000 pesos.”

The amount will be given to barangay health workers, nutrition scholars, daycare workers, tanods, animal health aides, lupong tagapamayapa, gender and development officers, as well as traffic enforcers of local government units in Metro Cebu.
