Guimaras gov Gumarin teams up with NGO vs sexual abuse
Guimaras is taking steps to prevent sexual abuse cases by inking an agreement with a non-government organization protecting children.
Provincial Governor Samuel Gumarin signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Child Protection Network Foundation Inc. and the Guimaras Police Provincial Office.
Under the agreement, a Child Protection Unit shall be established at the Dr. Catalino Gallego Nava Provincial Hospital in San Miguel in Jordan town.
The CPN will integrate medical diagnostic, forensic, therapeutic and preventive responses to abused children to provide health care and psychosocial services.
It will also work to minimize, if not prevent, re-traumatization, and support the child and his/her family to stop the abuse, and ensure the safety of the victim.
Also, a training program will be developed to instruct physicians and other medical professionals to provide medical care and other multi-disciplinary services to abused or neglected children.
Provincial police head Senior Superintendent Julio Gustilo reiterated their commitment to enforce laws for the protection of children against sexual abuse.
