Guimaras faces tighter curbs amid rising Covid-19 cases
The provincial government of Guimaras has adopted additional prevention and protection measures amid the continued rise of Covid-19 cases.
Governor Samuel Gumarin issued an executive order (EO) implementing more Covid-19 curbs in the province.
Guimaras recorded 23 new cases of Covid-19 and two more deaths – 13 cases and two deaths on June 1 and 10 new infections on June 2 – bringing its total active cases to 89 and 10 casualties. (https://bit.ly/3ch1FgC)
“We have to act fast to prevent further transmission of the virus,” said Gumarin.
Under his latest directive, only essential inbound/outbound travels are allowed such as transport of basic commodities and necessities, emergency cases, medical follow up and exercise of profession.
Individuals positive of Covid-19 and show symptoms referable to the disease shall be denied entry into the province, the EO said.
Returning or visiting persons coming from outside Western Visayas shall present a negative Covid-19 test result, it added.
Business establishments are only allowed to operate from 5 a.m. until 4 p.m., while public utility vehicles can operate from 5 a.m. until 6 p.m.
Sea vessels plying the Guimaras-Iloilo route and vice versa, on one hand, shall operate from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Mass gatherings, including dine-in services, shall be prohibited.
